Italy Fights Off Irish Assault

It was another classic Italian match where a 3 goal lead was nearly washed away.  After a 1-1 score within 5 minutes of the game, one can see that this was going to be a "where is the defense" type of game.  To jump ahead, Italy eased out to 4-1 lead at the half and things looked as if the England v Germany match had some competition for biggest laugher.  However, the Irish had other plans.  A few shots of Jameson Whiskey in the clubhouse and Ian Thompson's boys came out with a purpose.  Before Italy could blink an eye, it was 4-2 then 4-3.

"My team went flat," says Ingoglia.  "We became complacent and took a 4-1 lead for granted.  I don't care what team you are playing.  This is professional international soccer and each team has the ability to grab points from every game." 

Italy was able to tack on one more at the expense of conceding one more as well to capture 3 points with a 5-4 victory.  Man of the match was the mysterious, misunderstood, and estranged Mario Balotelli who had 3 assists and 1 goal.

"I was very pleased to see our offense in full stride.  However, we play the Germans next.  Their defense is very solid and if we don't figure things out soon, giving up 4 goals or more to them will be a crushing blow.  We have got to play better football...period."  - Italian Manager, Chris Ingoglia
