Suarez Strengthens Case; Top 3 Set in Stone

Suarez was superb yet again, netting 2 in a 3-0 win.
The top three are finally decided following Liverpool's comprehensive 0-3 win at Camp Nou tonight. That leaves the bottom three left to decide relegation and next season's Champions Cup playoffs.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring on 37 minutes following a lengthy period of sustained pressure by the Reds. The young Englishman sweeping home Daniel Sturridge's driven cross from five yards out.

Player of the Year Award frontrunner, Luis Suarez, then netted a superb brace. The first flying in past the helpless Victor Valdez after striking Xavi's outstretched arm. The second a clean, low strike into the bottom corner from 16 yards out.

It would turn out to be the striker's third man of the match performance, a fine achievement considering all the targeted abuse he was receiving from the Barcelona defense. Suarez was thrice on the end of bookable offenses, with Villa, Xavi, and Busquets all taking turns lunging in on the Uruguayan.

Third is a remarkable achievement for Murphy's Barcelona. After such a long layoff, to earn automatic Champions Cup qualification is a fine feat. Some may grumble about his style of play, and repeated "tough" tackling, but I'm sure Murphy will sleep soundly knowing he bested long suffering Arsenal and Palermo managers to the top half.
