Gentlemen (and Burns), your first taste of the future of digital football, and consequently, the future of GIMP DFA, is here. Via XBox live marketplace you can get your hands on a bare bones playable demo of FIFA 10; and based upon my experience with it, you'd be a fool not to.
They core gameplay has been tweaked ever closer to perfection, and while that's great news for habitual football viewers (and those who want a more realistic DFA experience), it's bad news for those who play with rubber bands around the right trigger.
-Standing tackles must now be timed; time to cut down on holding A to send a defender charging at full sprint at the ball.
-Same applies for the "call second defender button as well".
-Playing with the Game Speed setting switched from "normal" to "slow" produces one of the most satisfying FIFA experiences to date, and a GIMP Constitutional Amendment will be proposed.
-Ball physics are greatly improved, allowing for long distance/lower trajectory shots without the 'floaty' feel from '09.
-Take your lofted through balls and shove 'em. The days of lobbing a ball over the defense and allowing your overrated strikers to muscle through to an easy one-on-one look well and truly over.
-Turning to find space, passing and movement, switching the field, and other realistic tactics will win the day in FIFA 10.
It's not only the mechanics that are improved, but also the asthetics. A whole new batch of presentation and animations has been implemented, adding to the immersive sense of realism.
-Defenders will leap into harm's way to block shots and clear balls off of the line.
-Players will adjust their feet and body position, when granted enough time and space, to make the best possible pass/cross/shot.
-Referees will book/warn players in real time.
-Player faces are slowly shedding that plastic look.
Download it today, for when the GIMP DFA Fall/Winter 09 Season arrives, you won't want to be behind the new (and improved) curve.
Don't be afraid to give it a go.
