Liverpool Lands League Cup

Liverpool's fine run continued into the League Cup final as they cruised to a 3-0 victory against Tottenham. Man of the match, Steven Gerrard netted once in each half, and Fernando Torres continued his red-hot form, adding the third in injury time.

It looked to be more good fortune for Spurs early on; a misplaced Glen Johnson pass played Robbie Keane in on goal, but Daniel Agger was quick enough to recover and corral him into only troubling the side netting. There was little joy from there on as Liverpool's defense comfortably dealt with the early cross that has become a Spurs trademark.

Not the talisman he was last season in the league, Gerrard has been immense in the League Cup and his contribution this evening was second to none. He will deservedly pick up the League Cup top performer award, alongside top scorer, Torres.
