Rampant Robben Humbles Awful Arsenal

Arjen Robben ran out back to back braces in Bayern's Champions Cup qualifiers to secure an anxiety-free stroll to the group stages. The Dutch winger was also selected as man of the match in both ties and his four goals more than ensured his side's place in the next round.

Bayern took an insurmountable lead in the away leg, knocking 4 past a pitiful Arsenal side at the Emirates. They felt the need to add three more goals to the aggregate, and fortunately for Arsenal, Gervinho was able to finally put a London-based name on the scoresheet.

Does a 7-1 aggregate score make Bayern a serious challenger for the Champions Cup? With a line up nearly equal to Chelsea and far beyond Palermo and Liverpool, one has to like their chances. The pressure will finally be on Thompson to prove his name can be listed among the GIMP elite for good.
