Suarez, Kuyt Claim 'Pool's 4th Shield

A goal either side of half time was enough to hand Liverpool their fourth Community Shield and manager, Liam Pruitt his fifth.

The Reds were not irresistible, however, and it will take much better displays to retain their title. Ingoglia will have cause to feel aggrieved as referee Chris Mumple waived away furious appeals for a Palermo penalty just before half time.

Dirk Kuyt put the tie to bed after the hour mark, slotting home after some penalty box confusion. Their performance will not strike fear into too many GIMP hearts, but another Liverpool trophy is an auspicious start for their title rivals.
