Chelsea Revert Back to '09 Antics In League Cup

Chelsea found themselves at the center of controversy Monday night in Germany when the West London side was beaten 12-1 by a very strong Bayern Munchen. Burns will no doubt face a sanctions from the DFA after his post matches comments where he was critical of of the officiating and admitted to instructing his players to score own goals.

"I thought I was past this. But after the two penalties called against us last week (against Palermo) and all the decisions that went against us today I felt as if I had no choice."

Burns was sent to the stands after berating the 4th official following the sending off of Chelsea youngster Oriol Romeu.

"The penalty was just the final straw today. Bayern benefited from a lot of soft fouls, and a referee that was to quick with cautioning JT (John Terry) and Romeu. There was not a decision that went our way today. Its hard to win when the deck is stacked against you like that. "

Burns did admit that Bayern deserved the win but felt that the lopsided score was a direct result of the pour refereeing and a bit of luck.

"They're a good side. They're top of the table and have a real shot to win the league. Today they played well enough to beat us, but certainly not by 11 goals. They were very fortunate late in the game with bounces, last ditch tackles and a few rash decisions for the referee. Every ball we nicked off one of their players fell right into the path of another Bayern player. It just wasn't our day. "

Despite being knocked out of the League Cup early, Chelsea are still favorites to advance in the Champions Cup, are second in the league and are always considered favorites to win the DFA Cup ('10 winner).
