Ireland's Negative Tactics Doom French

It would be a tale of two sides as Ireland bashed their way to 6 points on the night against France. "Park the bus and stomp on shooter's chins" seems to be the tactic du jour on the Irish side and led to a vital Loic Remy injury in the first match just as France went ahead 2-1. The Irish would score two consecutive goals on  counter attacks from off-the-post efforts on the other end as the French seemed to be the only team looking to play.

"It's a shame that it's come to this" said France manager Adam Tindle after the matches. "The league glorifies the 'pass as many times as possible in your own half' mentality and we simply won't cave into that. I'd rather lose beautifully than win with that method." When questioned if the strategy he complains of was the same strategy used in France's cup winning match against Germany, the manager replied, "That's a clown question, bro."

Thompson will have the last laugh as Ireland are set to progress from the top of the group. They easily cruised in the second match as France pushed harder and harder in a futile effort to get past Ireland's rugby..er..football squad. Will the Republic get past the semi-final stages? One must think that if it comes down to them vs. England, either a) there will be no attacking players left to score as they're all chopped down by late slide tackles and carted off or b) no one will be awake by the end of that snoozefest to tell.

  1. A)The two pictures are of Yann M'Vila (not injured in the matches) and Wayne Rooney (not even in this tournament). Kind of sets the precedent for the amount of truth to follow in this "article"

B)I don't think you know what "park the bus" means. You had one shot on target in the second game.

    C) Another fun fact from the second game...Ireland"s "rugby" team committed zero fouls to France's three plus a PK

D)"Goals off the post" and "counter attacks." Zero shots off any frame of the goal for Ireland. Counter attacks? How could Ireland possibly beat anyone on the counterattack? They are the whitest team since 1936 Germany.

E)"Lose beautifully" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Yeah, that's what you did.

    1. There's a right way to counter attack, and then there's tindles way. There's nothing wrong with sitting back and hitting on the break. I've played Germany 100 times and at the half have been down 3-0 with 60% of the ball. He presses my midfield , wins the ball back and then makes 3-5 quick passes up field to put himself in a position to score. Nothing wrong with that. Tindle on the other hoofs to a stron black guy who then shrugs off 4-5 defenders as he sprints down the flanks.

    2. Both of his goals were from crosses directly from the corner. So I'd say you're about right.

  2. Also, for a self proclaimed Arsenal fan you sure do love to play players that either dicked over Arsenal (Nasri) or play for some of their biggest rivals (Evra, Malouda, Lloris).

Forget about all the French players that are currently on the Arsenal roster and actually play for the REAL French National Team (Giroud, Koscielny, Diaby)

  5. The first wind-up went very well. It outed Ingo as being partial to whatever cockamamie point of view opposes mine or Burns'; as well as working everyone up crunching numbers. This one, however is struggling to grow legs.

  6. Good for him. Let him try to get everyone wound up. He's only got 1-3 games left in the GIMP anyway. Let him ride off into the sunset in disgrace.

    1. I'll be interest to see how their little cabal plays out the next match. Probably by comparing their wingers' and 'keepers' attributes to see who has a better chance v Germany/England/Ireland and blexting falsified match facts.

"Pass and move" has a 3 out of 4 chance of winning the cup, "h2h seasons" needs to get their solitary representative correct.

    2. "Pass and move" between the back four right? That's what Tindle thinks at least. Possession is possession to him. Doesn't matter if its quality or not.

He had a center half lead his team in passing last night. That's with a team that includes Nasri and Ribery. Hard to do...

    3. Oh yes, and Robbie Keane had a match high 31 completed passes. That's pretty astonishing considering the Irish only had possession in their own half...according to Tindle

  7. In the 4 matches that Ireland has played, from what I recall, Long had 9 out of 16 goals and 2 assists.

Contribution: 11 out of 16 goals. A percentage of 68.75%

Take out the one game he played a minor role in (6-5 loss to Italy with 1 goal) his other 3 matches present these numbers:

    8 out of 11 goals and 2 assists (90.9%)

Last night, the Republic of Long, I MEAN IRELAND! Ireland, was 6 for 6 (4 goals and 2 assists).

Super Mario, who receives a good bashing along with Italy and their manager, at least has a solid rating on a team with solid ratings.

Anyone care to bash Long and the Irish?

    1. And the Irish still have a Midfielder leading their team in assists

  8. I'd say the fact that your doing it with one of the most selfish players in the game right now is a problem.

    1. You can't honestly stand by that argument.

What you are saying, is that because Mario is selfish in real life, something in the video game controller should works its way into my nerve system and make me hit shoot instead of pass.

All 10 of the players on that digital pitch that we play on don't have their real life personalities. They have one personality and it is at the hands of the one with the video game controller. Now, I know we have all yelled at the tv with lines like,

      "Who are you passing to?!"

      and

"Why didn't you clear it when I hit the clear button?!"

However, Balotelli passing it and being unselfish is a clearly not a problem as you put it because it's not really him...if you can understand that. Just like what Pirlo did in real life doesn't mean he will do the same because I can make him do whatever I want because I am the one in control.

    2. Right....

Mario recorded one assist last year for club and country and that assist was actually a slide tackle that slid the ball to aguero who scored to win the title for city.

He's a goal scorer, not a creator. Pirlo at the Euros was absolutely brilliant. All he seems to do for you is take free kicks.

Some people like to play from the back and some people like a more direct style of play. The only complaint is, you have world class midfielders who aren't involved at all because a I giant Ghanaian who setting up close 100% of your chances.

Long had shown before that he can distribute. He had 10 assists a few years back for reading. Some strikers have the ability to pick out a final pass or a cross (drogba) and there are some who have never even considered passing within sight of goal (Balotelli)

    3. Again, real life vs video game. What Long does in real life with the decision to pass or shoot has absolutely zero to do with how it plays out in the game. I love how you put "close (to) 100%". How you make your point seem stronger with a generalization. Classic.

What you don't know, is that in my 6-5 victory, the one where my striker (aka "goal scorer") scored 4 of the 6, is that Pirlo had 2 assist and scored one as well.

Let's not overlook the fact that Long is rated a 75! And is beating keepers like Buffon (85) with parallel runs along the outside of the box and hitting grounders into the corner. Yes that happened.

Let's not overlook the fact that Long's passing skills in the game are 41 for long passing and 60 for short passing.

Let's not overlook the fact that we are comparing him to Balotelli who has an overall rating of 81. Long passing 58 and short passing 74!

Balotelli's short passing is nearly better than Long's overall rating.

And with all of that, let's not forget that, as mentioned before, this is a video where we control what they do. There are many times on the pitch of our digital screen, that I don't see Balotelli with the ball (MUST SHOOT BC IN REAL LIFE THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS). No, I see player A with the ball who passes to an open player B or vise versa.

So, when you respond to this still trying to defend Ireland, Ian, and Long (for some reason that is unknown...though I get it) try and give a legitimate reason that is completel without the use of real life. You can't do it.

    4. Parallel runs outside the box? Unless you mean the six yard box, I call bullshit.

  9. You also have pirlo who was outstanding during the euros
