TMZ.com has reported that a Chelsea assistant coach, under the orders of manager David Burns, had cut a deal an hour before Palermo's match with Barca to intentionally injure Barca star player Lionel Messi. According to sources, Palermo was not interested initially, but when Burns threatened to release the Florence Freedom article about Manti Te'o imaginary girlfriend night (http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/8855822/florence-freedom-ballclub-manti-teo-girlfriend-bobblehead-day), Palermo ok'd the deal.
Barca Manager Brett Murphy said "This kind of behavior would not surprise me in light of the recent match fixing scandal in the football world, I just hope it's not true, I thought Palermo played a good match, but with story breaking, it makes sense" This coming off the heels of dealing with an Arsenal squad that paused the game 30 times and took the full 45 seconds without warning, Barca will once again be down their best player heading into the Chelsea, Liverpool back to back.
