Chelsea Score Five but Lose Two againt Arsenal

Chelsea's week went from good to great last night after thumping London rivals, Arsenal, 5-0 at the Emirates.  Five different Chelsea players found the back of the net, bringing the clubs goal tally to 11 over the last two matches.  Chelsea's recent offensive explosion shouldn't overshadow the clubs two solid defensive efforts.  On the back of holding PSG to a mere late consolation goal, Chelsea further tightened up things at the back keeping a clean sheet against the dangerous Gunners.  Arsenal failed to attempt a shot until the 40th minute and were reduced to making mazy runs to the corner flags and hopeful long balls hit from deep in their own half.

"I'm extremely pleased with our effort this week," said Burns.  "We have been extremely unlucky in the league thus far and have been forced to settle for a point in games that we should have won by two or three goals.  Its nice to finally see the goals start to pour in for us. Defensively, we were brilliant against Arsenal.  We were able to comfortably deal with all of their long ball attempts and were able to contain them once they took the ball out wide."

It wasn't all smiles for the Blues however, as they saw two more of the players go down to injury against Arsenal.  Demba Ba and Ramires both picked up knocks after horrendous challenges by Cazorla and Mertesacker. 

"Its extremely frustrating that Arsenal continues to play like this.  They were outplayed from the start, and rather than try to make smart adjustments and claw their way back they start behaving like petulant children, fouling our players at every turn.  We were forced to make substitutions fairly early in the second half to get the likes of Mata, Hazard and Lampard off the field before they were involved in any reckless challenges.  Had we been able to leave them on, I think we would've been able to put a few more past them."

"They were behaving as if they were hard done and didn't deserve to lose by multiple goals.  They misuse so many of their players, putting them in positions that they can't possibly succeed in.  Their midfield is exposed with Walcott operating as the holding midfielder late in matches and they don't have a clear target man for all of these long balls they hammer up the field with Giroud operating as a deep lying 'false 9'.  It has to be frustrating for all of the Gooners to see their club handled in such a disrespectful and destructive manner."

Chelsea's next match happens to be another meeting with the Gunners in the DFA Cup.

"We have to focus on the cup competitions at this point in the season," said Burns.  "Had we been on manual the entire year I think we would've been able to win a lot of the games we drew early in the season. We'd be in a position to challenge Liverpool for the title. Instead, Liverpool are only a point away from clinching the league already.  We're in a good position in the Champions Cup and we've always done well in the DFA Cup so we still have a very good chance of winning a trophy this year."
