A lot has changed since the last time a GIMP match has been played. I did my best to catch up with and follow up on some of our favoirte DFA managers to see what they've been up to during the hiatus.
The original G.I.M.P.
Greek:
The first man in the acronym was the first man we reached
out to. Unfortunately, a series of unexpected scheduling conflicts prevented us
from ever meeting with the elusive Greek.
Ingo:
The Italian manager has settled into the Midwest quite
nicely after the GIMP came to a close two years ago. Ingo and his lovely wife welcomed his first
born into the world in February of last year.
Young Matty is doing well and is already as big as his daddy (haven’t
seen it, but come on it’s gotta be close). Although he’s not the man he once was, if anyone had told you a few years ago that a 30 year old Ingo-Bingo would be
spending his weekends drinking out of a flask in the bleachers of a middle
school cheer-leading competition in Kentucky, you wouldn’t have thought twice
about it.
Murph:
In the spring of 2014 Murph drew inspiration from one of his
greatest GIMP ideas and sunk his life’s savings into his iPhone app “Blext”. Rather than sending a text message directly
to a friend, the app posts the message to a website without alerting the recipient
that a message was ever sent to him or her.
The company filed for bankruptcy just a mere three hours after hitting
the app store and Murph was forced to pack up his belongings and retreat to the
mountains to live off the land. We haven’t
heard much of him since but we can only assume he is having a tremendous time
playing Lego Jurassic world on his Xbox 360.
Origin of the "Blext": Original Idea , 1st ever "Blext"
Pruitt:
No one took the end of the GIMP harder than this man. With no blogs to curate, no stats to keep and
no games to dominate, Pru needed something to keep his mind occupied. The most successful manager in GIMP history
traded in his latex gloves, bottles of formaldehyde and the 561 for a few law
books and the 727. No stranger to the bar scene, he felt right at home and in
the city that has the most bars per capita in the Florida . His unique cadence and enormous vocabulary
earned him the nickname of “that Scottish guy” to every girl with an IQ lower
than 55 around town. A scandal involving
Pru and the Senator, a frequent patron of the Castle in Ybor (seriously look
him up), nearly derailed his efforts in starting up the GIMP again. He has successfully managed to put this
scandal behind him and in recent weeks the Commish has been working feverishly
to recruit new players and reignite the passion in some of the older members
for the upcoming reincarnation of the GIMP.
The 2nd Wave
Adman:
Times have been good for the former Arsenal manager since
the GIMP ended in 2013. Just like his
good pal Ingo, Adman had to dust off the ole’ Brest milk pumps as he and his
wife pooped out their second child. Adman
made a fortune in the pump and dump scheme of his brother in law’s (DJ Donny) start
up record label, Pirate Rap Records.
Always on the wind up, he’s decided to work in the same city as two of
his biggest rivals.
Burns:
No one has handled a quarter life crisis as gracefully as
the man whose retirement ended the GIMP in 2013. The man in his mid-20s is
doing his damnedest to recreate his mid-teens by buying a skate board, drinking
cheap beer with his friends and going to as many Chris Carrabba related events
under the sun.
Critt:
“Ohhh my heaven!” The man who has coined some of the GIMP’s
most iconic catch phrases has experienced several exciting changes since we
last heard from him in 2013. A new wife,
a new job, and new house have all been highlights for the GIMP’s legal eagle. Successful white guys in their mid-50s love
to kill exotic animals, and Critterbug is no different. This thirst for power nearly saw his Florida
Bar membership revoked when old photos surfaced of him baking what appeared to
be a recently hunted Tea-cup Yorkie.
Cush:
The most lovable manager GIMP history has won as many GIMP
matches in the hiatus of the league as he did in the final season. Despite little to no success on the pitch,
the man genuinely seemed to enjoy competing each night. Without the GIMP he was forced to find new
outlets for his masochistic ways. As if
giving up carbs wasn't enough, Cush also decided to follow Aaron Carter's "I Want Candy" Tour around the U.S.

Ian:
"Vision issues" (ITMoney Retirement) forced the DFA's second most successful manager to retire in October of 2012. Although his eyesight is improving each day, he is still forced to live with a round-the-clock care taker, Mike. Rumor has it that he has become a FIFA recluse and refuses to leave the digital world he's created where Danny Welbeck is capable of winning multiple Balon D'or awards. Most people believe that he may have the stomach to test Welbeck's super human strength and speed against actual human competition in the GIMP; especially now that his boyhood club, The Arsenal, is looking for a new manager after years of underachievement.

Burns (DavidWade69, JokeHoleWho): Would love to see you in here this Fall season. Your rivalries with Ian and I coupled with your online wind-ups give the DFA its impish charm.
ReplyDeleteIngo (The Italian, The Martyr, TebownPiece): As a founding father of the GIMP, and ever-present since day one, it will be weird not having you involved.
Critt (ABCRitt, RedRum666, DieCecilDie): Roma needs you. We need you. It's been far too long.
Ian (IT$, xXWelbz4LifeXx): As the second most successful DFA manager of all time, the spirit of competition cries out for your presence...as does a neglected Emirates Stadium. Would love to see the Norf Lahndahn Dahbee back in the GIMP this Fall.
