Chelsea Punch First Ticket To Wembley

Chelsea were the first team to secure their spot in this years DFA Cup Final after beating Bayern München 4-2 Wednesday night. Chelsea took the lead on a 7th minute header from their captain John Terry. Bayern's poor response to the opening goal would ultimately seal their fate as Demichelis was sent off with a straight red one minute after the opening goal. An Anelka goal in the 17th seemed like it would be enough to send Chelsea back to Wembley, where they reached the final in the DFA Cup last season. Bayern eventually picked their heads up and began playing the quality football that Thompson has been able to regularly produce in his first season and went level in the 45th with goals coming from Gomez(39th) and Schweinsteiger(45th). The early red card would ultimately come back to haunt Bayern as they eventually succumbed to the constant pressure from the Chelsea attack. The 59th minute strike from Didier Drogba proved to be the winning goal for the Blues and another was added 20 minutes later when Joe Cole, man of the match, cut through the Bayern defense to put the game out of reach for Thompson.

"I'm extremely excited to be back managing in the DFA Cup final again. I have several days to prepare for the match and all of our players will be extremely focused on bringing a GIMP trophy to London for the first time ever. All credit to Thompson for fighting back after a few early poor decisions. He's a tremendous manager and if he takes the reins at Arsenal next season who knows what damage he'll do in the league."

Burns and Chelsea must now wait to see who they'll face in the DFA Cup final. Liverpool are early favourites to join Chelsea in the final but both Roma and Barca are playing quality football at the moment.

"Sure Liverpool is on our minds. They won the league so it makes sense for them to be selected as favourites to meet us at Wembley. They did recently stub their toe in the league against us so who knows what could happen. Murph has been playing great lately and Critt has always been a top manager. He finished second last season and although he has struggled during this campaign he does possess the quality to turn things around. It should be fun to sit back and watch."
