Three matches into the season and its clear to see that Thompson and Bayern Munchen aren't off to the start that they wanted to be. Its still too early to make any conclusions on the season, but it does look like there may be a shake up in the top 4. With Ingoglia in charge of a ramped up Inter squad and Tindle finally performing with Arsenal, we may see Bayern and Roma slip out of the Champions League spots this season.
Burns spoke about Bayern and Roma's struggles after his club's win at Roma in the Champions League on Thursday night.
"Its still early", Burns said. "Roma is struggling right now and I'm not sure if they will be successful the way the are playing. They have a good group of central midfielders and they insist on playing the ball out wide. Wide play has produced three goals against us, but I don't think its a good long term plan for them."
Burns then went on and backed Thompson to finish in the top three this season. "He's got too good of a squad to not finish in the top 3. His wingers are off the chart and Schweinsteiger and Muller are fantastic players. His back four is his only weakness but he hasn't conceded that many goals this season. There's just not spark when his club is on the ball. He can't seem to create any chances right now but I don't see this continuing. Robben and Ribery are too good for this to continue. He'll get things turned around soon."
