Glen Johnson secured a vital Champs Cup point at the Allianz

Hot on the heels of their League Cup semifinal victory, Liverpool have secured the point they needed to land them in the Champions Cup final.

Mario Gomez looked to have put the Merseysider's celebrations on hold with his 75th minute strike, but Glen Johnson equalised minutes later to ensure Liverpool would keep their 100% record of Champions Cup final qualification intact. Manager L. Pruitt was understandably chuffed, "We got exactly what we needed out of this game: the necessary point, and the stalwarts got a much needed rest."

There has yet to be a Champions Cup final without Liverpool, and this season will also be the first time Roma has not featured in the showpiece match.
