Marked Men of the 2010 G.I.M.P. Season
With the 2010 G.I.M.P. season fast approaching this may be the most brutally competitive campaign to date. Well, maybe not competitive but certainly brutal. With the announcement of the new injury rule comes a new, bloodthirsty approach to each game. Savage, wreckless, and downright dangerous tackles will be prominent which may lead to some crippling injuries that could be the downfall of the more one-dimensional teams. That being said here is a list of some this season's most marked men.

Fernando Torres, Liverpool
The most efficient scorer in league history will be certain to have the crosshairs on his back (and ankles) as he looks to lead 'Pool to yet another league title and several other pieces of silverware. The oft injured "Nando" will also have to look to avoid a sea of boot studs flying towards all parts of his anatomy.

Didier Drogba, Chelsea
Next up we have the bulldozer that is Didier Drogba who might be the most single feared player in our league. His mix of speed and raw power is unmatched by any other forward that you will ever line up against. While Drogba is not prone to injury he is notorious for flopping and sitting out a play in hopes of receiving a foul, and since FIFA 11 promises to be the most realistic football game on the market, EA will certainly have to take that into effect and have Drogba become "injured" even when no actual contact is made.

Franck Ribery/Arjen Robben, Bayern Munchen

It is no secret where the heart of Bayern's attack lies and who could blame them as the Bavarian side posesses two of the most electric wingers in the world. This means that the paedo Franck and the balding, man of glass, Robben will have to watch their backs as they are certain to be targeted by teams frustrated by their blazing speed and skill.

David Villa, Barcelona
The 40-million Euro man will get his first taste of G.I.M.P action this Fall and will likely be the target of some wildly mistimed tackles. The Valencia sellout is a deadly striker on a deadly squad that are poised to suprise a lot of the more highly touted mangers of the league. If that is the case expect Villa's knees to have bull's eyes painted on them

Francesco Totti, Roma
Last, but certainly not least is Francesco Totti. With the departure of the suprisingly successful Luca Toni, it will be "one man only scores, only scores for Roma" once again. Totti is the runner-up in the career goals category and will be hunted all season as opposing managers grow increasingly tired of hearing "Totti, you boy!"

After writing this article I sincerely hope that this will have been just a waste of time and we have to report more goals and man of the matches and less of these kind of things:

  7. I know when my guys get tired, their slide tackles get a little sloppy...hopefully no one "important" will get hurt.
