Burns Backs Italy

It became official tonight that England would not make it through to the second round of international play. After an emotional loss yesterday to Germany, England looked sluggish and uninterested in the match against Spain. "It was hard for the players to get up for this one. They fought so hard last night against the Germans and got a poor result. Pride was on the line today but its very difficult to bounce back from a game that eliminated you the night before, especially with the way we lost it." Both the Spaniards and Germans look to be the clear cut favorites to face off for the final but Burns seems to think that might not be the case. "I'm pulling for the Italians to win the cup. I'm part Italian and the manager and I are great friends. We've actually made plans to grab a drink next weekend so yeah I'll be pulling for him."

Burns must now focus his attention on the task of overcoming an 11 point difference in the league and a challenging road to the DFA Cup final. "I think we'll be a much bigger threat in the second part of the season and in the FA Cup tournament. Roma really made a mess of things and dropped a ton of points at the end of the first round of league matches. They're a one man team with not a lot of options up front. You stop him and you stop Roma. AC also dropped a bunch of points late and fell far in the table. We got off to a rocky start but really rallied behind each other and have been playing great football and Im confident that will continue. "

Chelsea is set to take on AC back in league play once group B finishes their international play. Perhaps in a fortnight?
