The Good
- Assists are now recorded and reported following each match. Not since the Winning Eleven days has the DFA been able to keep track of this extremely important statistic.
- Standing tackles:
- Now one can concede a penalty with a mistimed standing challenge. Something that was conspicuously absent in FIFA '10.
- Calling a second defender coupled with the sprint button is now a much more dangerous proposition. A tackle made at a full sprint is clumsy and can now result in a well-deserved booking.
- Perhaps the more thoughtful and restrained defense will be the tactic du jour, replacing the kamikaze style seen last season.
- The individuality. Players now stand out as they do in real life. You instantly recognize Ronaldo as he latches on to the ball and takes stride and Messi is the talismanic figure he proves to be every week.
- Passing. A more considerate, though out style of offense will prove to be the most lucrative as the days of falling down and nailing a pinpoint pass are over.
- And several more minute details...
- Only 3 minute halves. Good luck getting any quality practice in.
- Hand ball calls. Unfortunately the system is broken.
- Any time a free kick is shot into the wall a whistle is blown.
- Any time the ball makes contact with the arm, whether it is flailing about or glued to a player's chest, hand ball is called.
- I even had a player scythed down from behind and as he fell, his elbow landed on the ball. The bookable offense was forgotten and a free kick was given the other way.
- At least that saves us the trouble of another vote. Hand balls will not be a part of this season.
- Arshavin's high fade. Mitch Markham called, he wants his hair back.
