The First 21 Fixtures, a Wistful Stroll Down Memory Lane

Fixture 1: Liverpool 6-0 Milan: An unusually large margin of victory from a club that has made a living on one-goal wins. Three points is three points, however, and Liverpool has yet to collect anything but. The first of talisman Steven Gerrard's league leading 3 man of the match awards, and the same to Pepe Reina's clean sheets.

Fixture 3: Chelsea 1-5 Roma: Totti scored his first 3, Terry saw his first red, and the league saw Roma's title intentions. The darkest of days for an unpredictable Chelsea side, and they found themselves in a hole that took days to recover from.

Fixture 9: Chelsea 0-1 Liverpool: 'Fer-nan-do-Torr-es Liverpool's number nine' does it to Chelsea once again, this time in the 92nd minute after an atypically stale performance from both sides.

Fixture 15: Milan 1-2 Barca: Murphy's first points of the year at the expense of Ingoglia's Milan side was a pivotal result for the bottom three, one that set them on the path of permanent unpredictability.

Fixture 18: Roma 1-5 Chelsea: A match of antithesis and reversals. 5 goals from five different people showed Roma an alternate offensive approach. The same four goal margin from fixture 3 but a different collector of the spoils. The six point swing that proved to be the launching pad for Chelsea to snatch 2nd place at Roma's expense. Finally, most troubling for Roma, 8 dropped points headed to the break, the same number of points dropped by Chelsea at the start of the season.

Fixture 19: Milan 0-2 Man U: Milan's latest abysmal performance saw manager Chris Ingoglia immediately announce his retirement. What followed was an unexpected love-in from Chelsea's gaffer. It all got a bit mushy between those two; and one lovely photo-op later, the rest is history.

Fixture 20: Liverpool 5-4 Roma: Torres did it, Gerrard did it again, Totti blew it. Behind in the second half, the kop's atypically early rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone lifted the reds immediately, and what followed was arguably the most scintillating match of the year thus far. Clean through on goal in the 92' Totti could only trouble Reina's water bottle for a save. Don't place too much blame on ol' Francesc' though, Liverpool should have done better with their 16 shots on target.

Here's to the internationals, don't let us down, lads. Just as brilliant, yeah?
